Enjoy summer foods and drinks in a festival atmosphere at Kumihama Bay this August

At the 70th Annual Sennichie Summer Festival, feast your eyes on the fireworks, view the floating lanterns, or float your own across Kumihama Bay!

The character 大 (meaning “big”) or Daimoji on Mt. Kabuto will be lit up, there will be about 3,000 candle lit lanterns set adrift on the bay, and over 1,000 fireworks launched into the sky

It’s said that paying a visit to nearby Nyoiji Temple on the 9th of August will bring you 1000 days of good luck and this is where the name of the festival, Sennichie, meaning “the 1000 day gathering”, comes from

5:00pm~ Lantern Purchases Open (500 yen/1 lantern)

7:30pm~ Daimoji Light Up, Lanterns released in the Bay

7:30pm~ Fireworks (1,500 set off)

8:30pm~ Finish
