A multi-purpose playground has been bult on the site of the former Tango Kingdom Tower at the Tango Kingdom “Shoku-no-Miyako” roadside station in Yasaka-cho, Kyotango City. On the 21st, the middle day of a three-day weekend, many families cheered as they played on the brand-new equipment.

Kyotango City developed the facility to utilize the site of the Tango Kingdom Tower, which was damaged by Typhoon No. 23 in 2004. The tower was demolished in fiscal year 2022, and construction began at the end of fiscal year 2024. The total project cost was approximately 460 million yen.

The large-scale playground equipment is located on a hill about a 10-minute walk from the main gate. It features the “Long Slider” (a slide with a height difference of about 20 meters and a length of 70 meters) and the “Bouncy Dome,” where children can jump and play on two inflated circular membranes (with diameters of 4.5 meters and 5.7 meters). The facility opened on the 20th of this month and is primarily intended for elementary school students aged 6 to 12.

Hatakihito (3 years old), from Uji City, who just finished sliding down the Long Slider with her family, said happily, “It was fun to slide so fast.”
