In this program, you will explore the woods around Kyotango Forest Park Swiss Village in the Tango-Amanohashidate-Oeyama Quasi-National Park. After a brush with nature, you will warm yourself with a relaxing foot bath while sampling expert-selected Kyotango herb-infused tea blends and local traditional confectionery. Dinner consists of a mouthwatering selection of the finest Kyotango organic vegetables alongside wild grasses and flowers. The food is prepared without any spices in an earthenware pot using special healthy cooking techniques so you can enjoy the pure taste of each ingredient. The evening marks a chance for stargazing under the night’s sky and a soak in the seasonal herb bath The next day concludes the trip with a craft workshop using your own hand picked wildflowers.

Day 1

Meet at Kyotango Forest Park Swiss Village “Kaze no Gakko Kyoto” Hotel

01 Orientation, Health Check

At the Visitor Center, temperature and blood pressure measurements will be taken and your health will be checked.

02 Forest Walk

You will take a leisurely walk through the forest at an elevation of about 600m and recharge among the surrounding greenery. Enjoy this forest bathing course with cool temperatures even in the summer and air filled with balancing negative ions.

03 Snack Time on the Sky Deck

After the walk it is time to take a break and take in the views from the wooden deck on the summit of the ski slope. Nibble on snacks made from organic vegetables while looking out over the expansive surrounding mountain landscape.

04 Relax with a Cypress-scented foot bath

Soak your feet in the foot bath while sipping on Kyowakancha herbal tea with skin-clearing and detoxing benefits. The tea is a blended tea using oriental herbs from the mountains of Kyotango which were expertly-selected by a team of certified Chinese herbology and crude drug pharmacists in collaboration with Nagi Kyoto Tea and Coffee blend specialists. The tea has a fresh and crisp taste that will relax your body from the inside out.

06 A Fragrant Dinner for all Five Senses

The wildflowers with their beautiful natural colors alongside the food prepared in an earthenware pot provide a dining experience unlike any other. When the leaves are roasted over the fire, it brings out their unique aromas. When these scents are combined with organically grown local fruits and vegetables, it accentuates the umami flavor of the ingredients, creating a fresh new flavor.

07 Stargazing - Become one with nature

Enjoy a 360 degree unobstructed view of the starry night sky undisturbed by light pollution. Take a moment to detach and count the stars.

08 Seasonal Herb Bath

Immerse yourself in the seasonal herb infused bath and melt away your fatigue at the end of the day.

09 Accommodation - Kyotango Forest Park Swiss Village “Kaze no Gakko Kyoto” Hotel

“Kaze no Gakko” is a hotel located at the highest point of the Forest Park 683m above sea level. Experience the great outdoors no matter the season from this scenic spot.

There are 2 Room Types: Western Style Ensuite Room (Sea Side) with no bath, Japanese Style Ensuite Room (Mountain Side) with no bath

Day 2

01 Morning Meditation Yoga on the Sky Deck

A unique experience where you can do yoga while watching the sun rise.
The meditation in the clear open air allows you to clear your mind and completely relax.

02 5 Coloured 100 Year-Old Breakfast (Longevity Breakfast)

Kyotango City is known as the “Home of Longevity” where the Guiness World Record Oldest Man lived.
The 5 Coloured Longevity Breakfast served in the Forest Park is based on the ancient tradition of eating a well-balanced meal consisting of a combination of five ingredients in five colors: red, white, yellow, green, and black. The breakfast is a delicious and nutritious meal consisting of regional dishes made with seaweed, one of the major foods for longevity eaten in Kyotango.

Red: Grilled Dried Flounder and Bacon - for energy and vitality Yellow: Japanese-style Rolled Omelette - to brighten your mood and aid digestion Green: Pickled organic Daikon Radish Leaf - for relaxation and keeping fit White: Yoghurt with Homemade Honey and Blueberry Jam, Organic Daikon Radish Miso Soup - to refresh the mind and body Black: Kyotango Regional Dish Seasoned Wakame Seaweed - to calm the mind and balance hormones
03 Morning Wild Herbs and Flower Picking

You will pick mugwort and other wild herbs as you walk through the Forest Park. Take in the fresh scent of the wild herbs. Later you will dry the mugwort and use it for moxibustion.

04 Lunch - Soba Noodle Making

You will make soba noodles using locally produced buckwheat flour.
Then you will cook and eat the fresh fragrant soba noodles you made yourself.

05 Introduction to Moxibustion - Mugwort Drying Experience

You will dry the fresh mugwort you picked in the morning and use it for moxibustion.

06 Health Check

Blood pressure will be measured in this health check.

In the event that the program is cancelled on the day of the reservation due to weather etc., you will be contacted directly by Forest Park Swiss Village so you are requested to check your phone on the day of your program.
