Tango Divine Sake Festival

Enjoy the unique taste of 8 different sake breweries in the Kyoto by the Sea area on one weekend.

Across May 25th and 26th (Sat & Sun) there will be 8 breweries in Kyotog by the Sea opening their doors for tastings between 10am and 5pm. There will also be local food to enjoy alongside the sake.

On Saturday the 25th there will be 4 breweries open:

Kinoshita brewery in Kumihama: Kinoshita makes sake using a combination of ancient techniques from the 1800s and new methonds, such as spontaneous fermentation. map

Takeno brewery in Yasaka: Takeno uses locally grown rice harvested using the rice contract system to ensure the fair prices are paid, their sakes have lovely fruity notes to the flavour. map

Also Hakurei brewery in Miyazu, and Yosamusume breweries in Yosano.

On Saturday the 28th there will also be 4 breweries in Kyotango open for tasting:

Kumano brewery in Kumihama: The sakes made by Kumano are famous throught Japan and pair particularly well with seafood. map

Shirasugi brewery (JP language) in Omiya: Shirasugi makes sake using locally grown high quality rice to make sure their sake has a great taste. map

Also Taniguchi Brewery in Yosano and Ikeda brewery in Maizuru.

There are bus tours available on both days departing from Kyoto, Osaka, and Kobe areas, and also from Fukuchiyama, and Amanohashidate. Tours can be booked from the official webpage here (Japanese Language).

If you are driving to the breweries by yourself, please remember to have a designated driver, Japan has a zero-tolerance policy for drink driving.
