Kyoto Health Resort Kyotango – Student Monitor Tour
Kyotango is known as the Home of Health and Longevity and the aim of this tour was to try out various activities run by locals in the city and learn more about the secrets of health and longevity with a focus on ways to enjoy keeping healthy and promote sustainability.
The tour also provided the opportunity to exchange ideas about Health Tourism and help develop more Health Tourism products in the future.
Saturday 30th November – Sunday 1st December 2024
Day 1: Explore Kumihama from the Train Station to the Town Center (by Electric Scooter) -> Boat Excursion to “Deserted Island” -> Musu Goka Sauna -> Overnight at Hotel Tango Kingdom
Day 2: Visit Ukawa Area: From Nakahama to Kyuso (Health Tourism Certified Centenarian Health Walk Program)
After an orientation in Kumihama Station, we set off to explore the town by electric scooter.
Then, we headed over to “Mujintou” Deserted Island which is only accessible by boat and visited the lodges, open air baths, pools and other facilities that the owner constructed himself.
Followed by a visit to Musu Goka Sauna which is an outdoor sauna which was renovated from an old Japanese-style house.
After that we took part in the Centenarian Health Walk Health Tourism Program and walked through the Nakahama and Kyuso area in Tango-cho.
Lunch was at Ukawa Onsen Yoshino no Sato and consisted of a health bento box including local specialty dish, Tango Barazushi. After lunch, we visited some local sights like Tateiwa Rock and Yuhigaura Beach and the tour came to an end.
