Paint Your Own Guardian Cat Statue

This activity is suspended due to the State of Emergency in Kyoto and other prefectures. It will be suspended for the duration of the state of emergency, currently due to end on March 7th, 2021.
Kotohira shrine is the only shrine in Japan with guardian cats (komaneko) rather than dogs. This is to show of appreciation for their work catching the mice that would have eaten the silkworms essential to the silk trade.
In this activity you get to paint and take home your very own guardian cat.
