Enjoy summer foods and drinks in a festival atmosphere at Kumihama Bay this August

At the festival there will be food and drink stalls as well as games

The character 大 (meaning “big”) on Mt. Kabuto will be lit up, there will be about 3,000 candle lit lanterns set adrift on the bay, and over 1,000 fireworks launched into the sky

It’s said that paying a visit to nearby Nyoiji Temple on the 9th of August will bring you 1000 days of good luck and this is where the name of the festival, Sennichie, meaning “the 1000 day gathering”, comes from
