Kotohikihama Singing Sand Museum

ABOUT
THIS
SPOT

This is an experience-based museum where you can learn everything about the singing sands of Kotohikihama Beach.

Many things drift on the currents into Kotohikihama Beach from the Sea of Japan. Learn the stories these items tell. You can view the sand, quartz and small shell samples under a microscope to get a closer look.

The sand does not “sing” when wet, so if you miss the chance to hear the sand at Kotohikihama Beach you can hear it here regardless of the weather.

There are also Seashell Craft Activities to try here, they must be booked separately and in advance.
