〇The Story Behind the Suishohama Beach Clean Operation〇
“Suishohama Beach” is a beautiful stretch of sand made of crystal.
While the beach is known for its crystal-clear waters and sparkling sand, a large amount of debris has washed up along the shore.
Since vehicles cannot enter Suishohama, collecting and removing trash has been difficult, making it a long-standing challenge.
It was against this backdrop that the beach cleanup event “Operation Suishohama” began, driven by the local community’s determination to “do something about that beach!”
Thanks to the efforts continued every year since its start in 2020, Suishohama is gradually regaining its original beauty.

〇 It’s easier to participate this year 〇
The “bucket relay”—where participants carried marine debris from Suishohama to Kobama Beach—was a physically demanding task, though it offered a great sense of accomplishment.

This year, the format has been revised to make participation more accessible.
・At Suishohama, we’ll gather the trash in one spot to make it easier to transport.
・When carrying the trash along the promenade, you can carry as much as you can at your own pace.
・You can also participate in just the “beach cleanup” or just the “transportation.”

The event is now designed to be accessible for first-time participants and families.

〇Fun Activities〇
After the event, local shop “Okuma Shoten” will be serving free fried chicken.
Also, starting at 11:30 AM on the same day, the “Koba Marche” will be held at the seaside bungalow “Small Beach.”

*Event will proceed in light rain; in case of severe weather, it will be postponed to Sunday, May 31

Suishohama Beach (approx. 10-minute walk from Kohama Beach)

■ What to Bring
・Clothing and shoes that are comfortable and can get dirty
・Sun protection items such as a hat and sunglasses
・Drinks
・Work gloves
*Garbage bags will be provided by the organizers.

■ Cancellation Policy
If inclement weather is forecast, we will announce the cancellation via social media by 6:00 PM the day before.
